A letter from our founder…

Dear Community Partner,

I am writing to you today, both as the Board Chair of The Hive Inclusive Community and as an individual invested in the future of our community.

The inception of The Hive Inclusive Community is deeply intertwined with my family’s personal journey. My 29-year-old son, Tres, has cerebral palsy. Through the years, he’s witnessed his siblings venture out, establishing their independence and creating their own communities. This is a path Tres ardently wished to tread himself. Our family embarked on an exhaustive search for housing options in Florida that would respect his wishes. Tres was adamant; he didn’t want to live in a group home or a residence exclusively for individuals with disabilities. He yearned for a space where he felt truly integrated into his community. Regrettably, our search revealed a glaring gap — the absence of inclusive, affordable housing options in Florida.

The Hive’s vision is to foster inclusive housing communities where every member can grow, find purpose and thrive. We are committed to providing affordable, accessible, and inclusive housing for individuals with disabilities.
The heart of a community beats strongest when all its members are afforded equal opportunities, and housing is a fundamental right that plays a pivotal role in this. Recognizing this, our dedicated team has been working diligently on a strategic plan that‌ will pave the way for a more inclusive Florida. This plan is not just a document; it is our pledge to create a world where every adult with a disability finds not just a house, but a home–a place of comfort, security, and belonging.

Our plan is ambitious. We know. Our members and others with disabilities are worth the fight for equitable, age in place access to supported housing. We can’t carry this assignment alone. Any viable movement and solution that has happened in America was successful because individuals, organizations and communities stood together and demanded an evolution of change. Will you stand with us? Will you partner with us for inclusive housing. That partnership could look like time as a volunteer, talents helping with events and programming or financial support.

Imagine a world where every person with a disability has the freedom to age in place,
surrounded by an inclusive community that supports and celebrates them. Together, we can
create this future. Will you be a part of it?”

Thank you for considering this partnership opportunity. We look forward to the possibility of collaborating with you and creating something truly extraordinary.

Warm regards,

Tonya Whitlock, Founder
